My 3 words for 2015

Well it's January 9th and I am finally getting around to writing about my 3 words for 2015. I love this exercise and have done it for a few years years now. If you're not familiar with the 3 words concept, it was started by Chris Brogan in 2006, you choose 3 words to help you shape the coming year.

So since I'm already 9 days late writing this I'm sure you're thinking procrastinate is one of my 3 words...nope that one is too easy and hey I don't procrastinate, too much.

3 words
Here they are, in no particular order:

1) Gratitude: I chose this word because I need to be more grateful for the wonderful people that I have in my life. I find that at times, especially when I'm a little down, I forget just how lucky I am. So in 2015 I am going to focus on being more grateful and showing more gratitude to the people I love.

2) Present: As in live in the present moment, not the past or the future, live for the now. I have wasted so much of my life worrying about things that have happened in the past that I have no longer have control over. Likewise I've spent a lot of time thinking about the future. For example, tomorrow, next week or next year will be better. No more wasting time, I'm going focus on today, this moment. No more "time travel" as James Altucher puts it.

3) Health: In 2014 I underwent a radical diet change which among other things, forced me to give up my favorite beverage: BEER. Yep, I gave up beer.  And lots of other stuff that I absolutely loved. Basically the Doc took away all of my favorite menu items and told me I had to change. It was and has been tough, but it has also been life changing. The process has made me realize that I also need to get healthier in other ways as well.

There you have it my 3 words for 2015.

3 Words - 2020

Here they are, my 3 words for 2020. Funny thing I can't find my 3 words from 2019, I know I had them just didn't blog them. Shouldn't have tossed out that post-it note. Oh well on with the present. 2020 3 Words: Resilience -  Resilience is defined as "   the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness." If  the craziness of 2019 taught me anything it's that I have to be more resilient.  Having endured multiple career setbacks in 2019 it would be easy to just give up, but what fun would that be. 2020 is my year so I'm going to be tough and manage to overcome the difficulties that life throws at me. Plan - I need to make a better effort of creating concrete plans and sticking to them. If the plan doesn't work scrap it and come up with a new one...but plan. For too long I have just shown up and left things to "fate" (more on that for a later post). Stillness - Create more time for meditation, reflection

2nd best ride ever!

Aloha... Well after a long, painful build process, I got to ride my new Single Speed Rossin custom this morning. What a great ride. It put such a big smile on my face. The only better ride I have ever had was a few years back when I rode a Turner MTB at Buckwallow. This bike is the result of my personal cycling/design style and the custom genius of my good friend Shawn Collison of Collison Custom Cycle (C3). (Also a shout out to the Dudes at Bike Zone Mississauga for their help). As an old time BMX guy, I have never been comfortable with gears. At the most I was using about 3 of the 21 + gears I have had on various bikes. That is why I love the Single Speed, no gears to mess with and a great looking style to boot. I am currently riding a 42 -16 gear ratio with a 700C x 23 wheel/tire combo . Worked out very well this morning, but I may need to experiment a little bit with the gearing. I will take some pictures and post tomorrow. The bike is awesome...can't wait to show you.
