Is this Wrong? Did Ballet School go too far...

My daughter came home from Ballet on Saturday and said "Daddy look at the valentines cards I got from Ballet." She was extremely excited about these cards.

I was curious and took a look. They looked fine, even though they had a small logo of the school on the bottom. However...when I turned the card over it was a full advertisement for the school offering a free class. Now as a marketing guy I am all for promoting your business, product what have you. But this is just wrong. The teacher told the kids they were getting valentines cards to give to their friends, not advertisements to get your friends to join our school.

I would have been OK had the teacher said "you can give these cards to your friends and there is a coupon for a free dance class for them to come try out the school. Or something along those lines. This school is using our kids to do their marketing for them. My daughter is 6 and doesn't understand what is happening here, she just sees a nice valentine that she wants to give her friends.

Here is the card front and back (iPhone photos)

Front, looks harmless:

Back, a little blurry, but you get the point...

I would love to get your thoughts on this. Am I over reacting? Is this sort of promotion OK?

3 Words - 2020

Here they are, my 3 words for 2020. Funny thing I can't find my 3 words from 2019, I know I had them just didn't blog them. Shouldn't have tossed out that post-it note. Oh well on with the present. 2020 3 Words: Resilience -  Resilience is defined as "   the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness." If  the craziness of 2019 taught me anything it's that I have to be more resilient.  Having endured multiple career setbacks in 2019 it would be easy to just give up, but what fun would that be. 2020 is my year so I'm going to be tough and manage to overcome the difficulties that life throws at me. Plan - I need to make a better effort of creating concrete plans and sticking to them. If the plan doesn't work scrap it and come up with a new one...but plan. For too long I have just shown up and left things to "fate" (more on that for a later post). Stillness - Create more time for meditation, reflection

3 Words - 2016

It's time to write about my 3 words of 2016. This is always a fun way to start the year and it works better than setting a resolution that you won't follow through on.   Chris Brogan started the 3 words deal back in 2006 . It's easy and it works this way: you choose 3 words to help you shape the coming year. See really easy To review 2015, my words were:  Gratitude Present Health For the most part I did pretty well with these. At times all three of these were a challenge, but that makes this exercise so worthwhile.  And just because I'm moving to three new words by no means am I going to stop focusing on last year's words. Here are my 2016 3 Words , in no particular order: 1) Begin: Get started! Man I come up with lots and lots of ideas, concepts etc, but I never really ever actually do anything about it. This year I am going to BEGIN. I will jump into a few of these ideas and just go and see where it takes me. 2) Question: I'm going

My 3 words for 2013

After reading another fine post from Chris Brogan, who by the way is bringing it post after post these  days  ( http://www.chrisbrogan.com/blog/ ), I  decided to write my first ever 3 words for a new year. Here they are: Nature: get outside and explore. Ride bikes, camp, go to the beach, boat, surf, snowboard. Touch Goats. Enjoy: have fun in the moment, stop worrying about what hasn't happened (and probably won't happen anyway). Completion: follow through on ideas and projects. Complete, execute and then dominate. I am making 2013 awesome and so should you.
